rue la la

Rue La La....com
I was introduced to this website a couple of weeks ago. At first, I was a little skeptic of these "sale" websites, but after joining a few I've fallen in love. This site gives you the ability to shop clothing, shoes, accessories, home decor, and even vacations. This is the perfect place for, what I like to call, Bombshells On A Budget.
How does it work?
Simply, sign up! Unlike, other budget sites, Rue La La ask that you be invited by another member. If not, you can be put on a waiting list and membership will be granted in less than a week. Once you become a member they have featured sales, lasting a few days...then the sale is gone making way for new sales. As of today, the sales include French Connection [THUMBS UP], Vera Wang, and even marked down prices on the il Lugano Suite Hotel in Florida. There are plenty other sales going on right now too!

Check it out...

if you are interested in these sales ending in one day, and not prepared to wait until membership is granted, email me at cherielouisiane@gmail.com and I'll invite you.

"Ce n'est pas tant d'être riche qui fait le bonheur, c'est de le devenir."

It's not so much being rich that makes one happy, it's becoming rich that does.

New Blogger Coming SOON!
Cherie Louisiane will be bringing in a Co-Editor to get this page on the road! She's no one new to me, but will be new to you. She's my best friend and because of her similar personality and interest, she will be a great addition to the site! For now we'll call her L.K.B!
Right now she's on a study abroad program in France, which works out great for our
blog :)
We have so many things planned for the site but open to plenty ideas!
Including hair, OOTD's, and much more!

On the last day of my LAST spring semester as an undergrad, I ran into my house (elated, to say the least) and as I made that journey to the front door.... *SPLAT* went my beautiful iPhone. The screen made direct contact with the angled concrete that makes up the front steps of my house. So much so, that I thought the love connection would make little illegitimate iphonelette babies. Luckily enough, when i went to the Apple store I was able to receive a FREE replacement because of the one year warranty. WHO WOULD THUNK IT?
God bless Apple and it's low key warranties. With $300 saved I purchased this Kate Spade iPhone cover. As simple as it was it inspired me! It was actually hard trying to describe this design to my nail salon...but they figured it out!
I loves EM!

The color was so pretty, that it inspired me to make a second purchase at MAC...
A color that I was previously scared of, now i love. This is the Girl About Town lipstick. I'm sure that almost every makeup lover has this shade and I completely understand WHY! This is the color I am wearing on the header picture and on the side panel. When I used it, I did use a lip liner in a pink with red undertones. The MAC consultant told me that I didn't need a lip liner... but I'd rather with than without. It's a color for all shades so don't be afraid!!

little catholic girl.

Recently, in preparation for a family reunion, a few family members and myself have decided to do genealogy research on our family. Imaginably, it's become somewhat of challenging process. I presume, when taking on a project of this sort, African American families come to "road block" much sooner than others. See, as African Americans, we are aware that our family has lived in the U.S. but because of previous times, little records are found on them. During our search, our only savior in this quest was the "red book" or, the recordings of the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge.

-history break- Louisiana during the antebellum period, being considered "A Catholic State", required all slaves, natives and settlers to be baptized Catholic and catechized. -/history break-

With that being said, our search was made a little more easier! See, in these books there was the Name, D.O.B. (birth and baptism), and Parents Name.

In an effort not to bore the bajeezus out of you... I'll cut this short. Below is a photo taken out of the "red book", between the years 1860 and something. The named underlined is the name of my Great-Great Grandfather...The name is parenthesis is that of his parents. The name underlined below that is his brothers name.

We were then later, able to find census records on ancestry.com :)

Catholicism of course was passed on through my family and 140+ years later, I was confirmed into the catholic church. Although I was raised catholic, baptized and catechized, I had yet to be confirmed.

Long story church, whether pressured to be Catholic or by choice, I am that my ancestors were because a piece of them will be stored forever and the books held by the Catholic Church. My great-great grandchildren will also be able to find me in records, just in case my memory gets lost in a world controlled by time.

a bientôt.
(my grandmother, myself, and my late grandfather on the day of my first communion. Love you pawpaw)
