Today.
Well today kinda sucked. Today in 2010 of course.
I figured, why not document the most "SUCKIEST" day of the year. The only good thing about today is that i stumbled upon this here dress. ------------->
I mean look at it. Wouldn't it brighten up your day too?? Commmeeon!! You know it would!
Anywho. Aug. 3. What can i say about August THIRD?
Something quite interesting and IRONIC happened on this day in 1860. That year today, The Second Maori War started in New Zealand. I'm sure your asking yourself, WHY IS THIS INTERESTING OR IRONIC?? Well, if you've been following me on twitter you would know that I've recently become intrigued by the Maori peoples. It's much like me to fall in love with a culture and do extensive research on it. That's exactly what i've done to the Maori.
If you are anything like me, TRUST ME, you will find them to be a very interesting people. I became intrested in the culture after watching a present day movie about descendants from this tribe. Once Were Warriors tells the story of an urban Maori family, the Hekes, and their problems with poverty, alcoholism and domestic violence. I highly recommend this movie, and although based in New Zealand, i feel a lot of my readers will be able to relate to.
